Description
Acer palmatum Red Emperor produces large purple-red leaves in spring, keeping this vibrant colour in summer until Autumn when the leaves turn red. This acer grows to form an upright tree or shrub.
Japanese maples are deciduous and therefore drop their leaves in winter.
Acer palmatum Red Emperor grows well in partial shade or full sun. Japanese maples do not like to be dry or waterlogged, they thrive best when the soil around is kept moist.
