Acer palmatum Goshiki-kotohime is a dwarf variety of the ‘Kotohime’ species. In early spring the leaves are rich green although not uniform in colour as some display flecks within the leaves while others are a solid green appearance. The individual markings on the leaves range in colours from pink, yellow and red. During the Summer months, the leaves turn a darker shade of green, turning yellow-orange in Autumn.
Being a dwarf variety the leaves are small and deeply divided. It is also slow growing and stubby in appearance. Acer palmatum Goshiki-kotohime is often referred to as a rare variety due to it being hard to cultivate.
