In the spring the Acer palmatum Ukigumo produces pale green leaves with shades of pink and white edging. During summer the leaves can differ from showing some pink to no pink at all, before autumn when the leaves turn yellow-orange. Leaves are deeply divided and naturally twist and undulate creating an attractive tree. As a deciduous plant, the leaves fall off over Winter.
Acer palmatum Ukigumo grows well in partial shade or full sun. Japanese maples do not like to be dry or waterlogged, they thrive best when the soil around is kept moist.
