Inspired by the traditional Japanese design principle Shin-Gyō-Sō, this concept reflects three levels of formality — formal (Shin), semi-formal (Gyō), and informal (Sō) — a philosophy often applied to Japanese gardens and pathways.
The Shin (formal paths) are precise and symmetrical, using refined materials such as cut stone, granite slabs, or meticulously laid pavers. You’ll typically find Shin pathways in temple gardens, entry approaches, and spaces meant to convey dignity and structure. Patterns are clean and deliberate, reflecting harmony and order.
Cut from silver grey granite, 6 pieces make up this Shin-style path detail. It can be used on it’s own, or as part of a larger stepping stone path, to create a natural break in the path for added interest. We have two different patterns available to achieve this path attractive path detail.
The gap between the slabs can be adjusted to suit, approx 3-4cm gap. The pattern in style 2 provides a little more flexibility, and the gaps here could be set larger.
Total length of the path detail is 150cm, width 50cm, slab thickness 8cm.
The larger slabs within the patterns will require two people to safely manoeuvre into place. Total 6 pieces together are approx. 170kgs.
