Our Kodai Maru Yukimi Japanese stone lantern reflects the simplicity of form admired in oriental culture. The beauty of Kodai Maru Yukimi lanterns lies in their elegant round lid carved from silver grey granite to the most exacting standards.
Snow lanterns are so named as the generous diameter of the top lid protects the fire box underneath. This attractive granite lantern is most often used in oriental water basin arrangements and needs to be chosen with care to match the proportions of the water basin used.
For example, match a 45 cm ⌀ lantern with a 33 cm ⌀ stone water bowl. Similarly, a 60 cm ⌀ lantern is in the correct proportion to a 45 cm ⌀ water basin
The lantern is drilled to accept a low voltage light that we offer for an additional £19.
This lantern comes in 5 separate pieces. You can leave the pieces sitting freely on top of each other. If you live in a particularly windy area or you are worried about children or animals knocking into the lantern you can stick the pieces together using a clear, outdoor adhesive such as Stixall.
The same lantern can be found in the Nara collection where it is carved in a more rustic style and the granite has a more pronounced salt and pepper fleck; Kodai Maru Yukimi in the Nara collection.
